Recorded by Henry Glassie in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland in 1972 and 1977. Documentation, spanning 1972-1979, is contained in eight boxes-- four boxes with two photocopied sets of field notes and four boxes with two photocopied sets of research notes. Field and research notes include hand-drawn maps, drawings and measurements of homes and other structures, diagrams, notes from local newspaper articles, transcriptions of music and oral data, thirteen photographs, and notes for Glassie's book, Passing the time in Ballymenone: culture and history of an Ulster community. Collection contains audio recordings from Glassie's 1972 and 1977 fieldwork experiences in the county of Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. It includes recordings of local musicians and storytellers, discussions, from both oral and written sources, of local history, political issues surrounding the period known as the Troubles, vernacular architecture, agricultural practices, food habits, occupational folklife, Protestant and Catholic traditions of the region, and the dying tradition of mumming. Accompanying field notes reflect daily experiences of the collector. Subsequent research notes were created to organize material for publication and include transcriptions and notes on earlier field notes.
