Usability & Interface Design Services has been established to ensure digital collections and resources are designed to enhance user interaction to promote teaching, learning and research. To attain this, we are committed to collaborating with an array of people: users of the resources, information intermediaries, programmers, and metadata and subject specialists to determine user needs and requirements. Through iterative usability assessment and design, we are able to provide digital library resources that meet our users' needs and goals.
In addition to providing usability assessment and design expertise for specific digital library projects, the IU Digital Library Program also engages in general research pertaining to digital library usage: pedagogic use of digital resources, integrating metadata structures into discovery functionality and so on.
If you are embarking on a digital library project, we are happy to consult on matters pertaining to usability and design.
