Motivations for Usability Testing

  • Lack of published user-centered research regarding topic map usage to inform good design
  • Specifically, we wanted to understand:
    • If the inherent structure of a topic map-driven interface positively or negatively impacts the user's discovery process
    • If users prefer a topic map-driven interface to a standard, e-text interface
    • General strengths and weaknesses of both the topic map-driven interface and a standard, e-text interface
